We have been enjoying a very exciting and busy week in Kindergarten!!!! We created some SPOOKtacular skeletons! They will be hanging on the wall in the front office so please come check them out!
Due to the Halloween carnival this Friday, we will be attending Mass tomorrow morning at 8am, instead of Friday this week!
Our Halloween Carnival is this Friday from 10-12. Please have your child come to school Friday morning in their school appropriate costume. We will have our school wide parade at 8am, then we will go to our classroom from halloween themed learning. The carnival will be begin at 10am. School is dismissed at noon!
Kindergarten is running the Cookie Walk. We are asking that each family bring in 2 dozen cookies. The cookies will be given our individually to winners of each round. Please check the Sign Up Genius to see if there are spots that need to be filled!
Please make sure to read our SJA newsletter for more details and information on what's happening at Saint James!
Learning focuses this week include:
ELA: Our Wonders curriculum has been focused on Unit 2 week 2. The essential question we are focusing on is “what shapes do you see around you?” We are learning the following vocabulary words to enhance our learning of the unit:
materials
nature
decoration
games
world
To further enhance the learning of the unit we will put specific focus on the high frequency word: like, along with focussing on the beginning sounds of phonics. We had a blast creating shape monsters!
Math: We have been exploring measurement. Today, we measured the pumpkins that have been brought in to the classroom. Students made predictions of how many inches around the pumpkins are, then measured to see the actual size.
Art: We have been learning about the tradition of Dia De Los Muertos. The students are designing sugar skull art, along with carefully designing a skeleton art project to honor the spirits of those that have passed on.
Science: We are learning about the life cycle of a pumpkin.
Religion: We have been exploring how we feel God’s love surrounding each day. Students have been expressing this through conversations, illustrations, and writing practice.
